Sea temperature - Ploče

The temperature of the sea in Ploče is mainly determined by the amount of sunshine, the sources of fresh water located near Ploče and the Neretva River which flows into the Adriatic Sea in Ploče. Since the Neretva River carries cold water, the sea temperature in Ploče is always slightly lower than the sea temperature in Dalmatia, which during hot and dry summer months means a refreshing and cooling sea temperature. The sea temperature in Ploče is ideal for swimming during June, July and August and is similar to the sea temperature in Croatia, although Ploče is located in the southern Adriatic where places usually have a higher sea temperature than the Croatian average.
